Her

Here I place my wing
On her, the lover
I let her hear me sing
Until the night is over
I let her see the brightness of me
While trying to hide what my darkness sees
I fear for her
For the pain she writhes on
When she’s not touched by the sun
Yet she is always the one.

Little does she know of the horrors within
With every twist and every sin
The aching pain disgraced
The evil contemplates
The constant battle
Of light and dark
Hear the cages rattle
They hear her love hark!

I fight myself
I chain my demons
For her, for her
I bleed the black
I store the red
For her, for her
I can leave
But I remain
For her, for her.

My wings are tattered and torn
I won’t allow myself to grow horns
I will break them for her
I will keep myself from being disturbed
My light I give to her
I will help her glow
The struggles are absurd
But the world to her I will show.

The angel of life sheds his wings
The pain is temporary
To relieve the sins
No darkness to the contrary
I hear her cry
“Let me die”
But I will do her a blessing
To show her what she hasn’t seen
Here I bring the peaceful dove
An olive branch; a sign of love.
